An Experiment

I moved last month. It’s been easy in some ways and hard in others. For a long time, I had lost much of my motivation to make music due to a lack of understanding of theory and pain sitting up (this is, for the record, also part of why TWS has been delayed for so long), so I decided to start with the fundimentals.

First I tried to make a boom-bap type beat, although it didn’t end up super prominent- not like a true hip hop beat, more like poppy percussion. Then, I tried to hit the harmonic rhythms- big mistake. When I had all of those I wasn’t sure where to go for the actual melody. Instead I scrapped it for a bassline. From there the song filled itself out.
